Applications

Possible product applications include the full spectrum of engineering applications for industries such as aerospace, construction, automotive, electronics, agriculture, and industrial.  The main criteria for the part is that it is made of a formable metal material.

The key component that Met-MAX brings to any application is the potential to make the part to a better shape or more efficiently, saving money in the manufacturing process.  The following examples are just a sample of the proven track record of cost savings and innovation found by using Met-MAX.

  NET SHAPE

        SINGLE PIECE
Brake Fluid Fitting

Met-MAX forming method:
This very complex part is now a single piece and able to be formed to near net-shape with only minor drilling.  This part utilizes very high reductions in area and technologies such as Blank Rotation to form in the vertical plane and High Pressure Lever for segmented tool inserts, to form necks.

Previous forming method:
Multi-piece assembly with many secondary machining operations required to complete the part.

         LESS WASTE
Window Crank Gear

Met-MAX forming method:
Now part is completely cold formed at 150 parts per minutes with significantly less waste, and improved tooth profile and tolerances achieved.

Previous forming method:
Part previously was fineblanked on hydraulic vertical press with slower production speeds.

Electrical Copper Contact

Met-MAX forming method:
Now part is formed in both horizontal and vertical axis by utilizing Blank Rotator technology.  The copper material shows the diversity of material applications that are possible to form.

Previous forming method:
Part was partially cold formed and then machined in secondary operations to finish and flatten head.

     METAL DIVERSITY
Concave Roller

Met-MAX forming method:
Now part is formed complete by High Pressure Lever technology for segmented tooling, which allows tight tolerances and virtually no witness lines at the segment mating point.

Previous forming method:
Part was partially cold formed, but required secondary operations including grinding to finish.

     COST EFFECTIVE
Barrel Roller

Met-MAX forming method:
By using the patented sliding ring technology, the part is now formed near net shape with superior grain flow resulting in minimal grind stock and improved load carrying capability as a result. This method demonstrates sliding ring technology and ability to form net shape, allowing better grain flow/strength in the process.

Previous forming method:
Formed with grind stock formerly in one blow resulting in excessive material at the part equator thus requiring excessive grinding operations.
